You Want a Great Man Space of Your Own – Dream It and Make It Happen

You are a man who needs his own space.  A place to call your own where the kids’ toys and where your wife’s stuff doesn’t overflow into your space.  You can have your own toys out where you can see them.  You can have your buds over to hang out without keeping up to family standards.  And you don’t have to choose furniture and colors that pass muster with your girlfriend or wife.  You work hard.  You’ve earned this space. Here you can rest and watch your movies, listen to your music and play your video games.

All of the treasures you’ve accumulated over the years can find a new home in your hideaway.  Whether you have a baseball collection or fishing trophies, you can make it a part of your place. Your wife will thank you for it.  Let me give you some great ideas to help you create a sanctuary that is all yours.  We’ll find what you need – Gear, Goodies and Gadgets for Guys!

Hi, I’m Mike Kelley – Man Cave Guy

We’ve lived in the same place for many years and my space has come and gone more than once.  That’s family life.  At the moment – summer of 2012 – it is gone.  We did some destruction and construction to our home last year that gave us great outdoor spaces but cut down on our indoor square footage.  A lot of things went into boxes!  This year we fixed up the kitchen and painted and carpeted the downstairs.  More boxes everywhere and furniture all in the wrong places!  We have been camping out in our house for almost 5 months.

When I’m working, I’m a Master Merchant Mariner, unlimited tonnage, with pilotage in Alaska. I have worked at sea since 1973, when I graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy. I started working on super tankers.  Right now I’m working on a drill ship in the Gulf of Mexico.  That means I work 12 hours a day, seven days a week for the three weeks I’m on my ship.  Then I’m home for three weeks.  It’s great to be home!  And being able to have my stuff around me is important.

I have internet connection on my current ship, but I don’t have a lot of time.  So, I have a helper.  She will be helping to write up my ideas and notes and getting things posted while I’m away.  And she spells reel gud, to!

Meet my…

Man Cave Wife

Beth is a graduate of the Wildlife Management program at Colorado State University and had been doing visitor information and education on a wildlife refuge.  She wanted something different and went to work at sea.

I met Beth in 1974 when we were both working on the same oil tanker.  She’s been at home, taking care of our two kids and “holding down the fort” while I’ve been shipping.

Part of Beth’s ‘holding down the fort’ will be helping me with this blog, especially when I’m gone.
